Artists Profile

Born and raised in Ovens, Co.Cork. Aogán played music from a young age with his siblings; his father, accordionist Donncha Ó Loínsigh; and his mother, renowned singer Caitlín Ní Bheaglaoích. Summers were spent gigging in the Corca Dhuibhne peninsula of West Kerry, where Aogán learned a great deal of his music. Postgraduate studies brought Aogán to Dublin in ’97, where he recorded an album with cousin (guitarist) Gavin Ralston, and enchanting fiddler Michelle O Brien, and in 1999 Aogán received the TG4 Gradam Ceóil Young Musician of the Year award.

Aogán has since featured on a number of albums by other artists including Tallaght whistle player Gavin Whelan’s first and second albums, and Steve Wickham’s (The Waterboys) solo fiddle album.He is a member of the group Slide who have toured extensively in Europe and America and last year released their fifth studio album  "Mendicity"
